I'm Ben King
Welcome
I’ve been a professional cyclist for fourteen years, am a five time national champion, grand tour stage winner, and have competed in all of the biggest races in the world. I've lived in Virginia and Tuscany throughout my career and continue to travel extensively for races. I’m also an avid outdoorsman and nature lover. Over the past few years, my passion for photography has grown. I’ve noticed more and more parallels between cycling and photography, especially as it relates to equipment, experience, learning what works for you, opportunity, and so on.
Now, instead of riding to a cafe on my active recovery training rides, I ride to a marsh or forest with my camera. It's amazing what you can see when you're looking for it. I hope this platform stirs curiosity in you for the possibilities and beauties hiding right in your back yard!
Whether I'm fishing, hunting, on a walk with my wife and son, or out for an easy bike ride, I have my camera ready and my eyes are always searching. I hope my photos inspire you to explore.
As a Christian, photography has allowed me to appreciate even more intricate details and balance in nature, especially in the avian world which is all around, astonishingly diverse, and so easy to overlook. It strikes me that the first command that mankind is given in the Bible is to "rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and every creature that crawls upon the earth." I trust God meant for us to be caring, responsible, and protective rulers. I hope that if you find beauty in my images, it will move in you a desire to protect the environment we share with so many incredible creatures.
